About me
IMPROVO COACHING is my answer to how lightness and play can relate to seriousness and depth. My theatre experiences and especially those with improvisation have shown me how important playfulness, fun and liveliness are in order to think differently and try out new things, to change with joy and to shape one’s personal performance scope.

My wish is, that people discover and build on their authentic momentum. So that they are happy and content with the impact they have, with their achievements, with their relationships and interactions. With my Momentum, I would like to contribute to making this world a positive place with self-aware people who enjoy their work, life, and relations and shape their environment in a respectful way.
As Coach-Trainer-Facilitator, I enjoy being a stumbling stone, an impulse nudge, a perspective opener, so that self-awareness turns into powerful self-confidence and fulfilment!
The word Improvo saw the light of day in 2014 during my coach training in the Netherlands. It just perfectly describes how I get in touch and work with people. My style is inspired by a wide range of learning experiences of my freelance career, which started more than 20 years ago. Numerous hours of 1:1 and team coaching and countless days as a trainer and facilitator in German and English have shaped my expertise As well as the time spent in front of, on and behind different stages of life, because it has always given me a lot of joy to play together: when making music in a band, in movement theater during my studies and afterwards with GANGART in numerous performances, and nowadays with applied improvisation in many collaborations.

Positive impressions: the personal approach, the broadening of one’s horizon, the pointing out of possibilities. In the end: All! It was a really great experience and helped me to get better and more successful.
(T.L., Sales Team Lead)
There is a good “chemistry” between us, which makes it easy to talk with each other also about “sensitive” topics. He sets reminders to things learned earlier and gives different perspectives..
(U.S., Sales Manager)
A great coach, flexible and adaptable. He addressed my needs and articulated them in the sessions moving forward. I am glad I took part and learned from what we talked about. Well documented, so we easily managed to follow up starting each new session.
(P.L., Country Manager)
Perfect match with my coach and the coaching was perfect for me. I learned so much about myself and where I stand on my way – simply great.
(K.B., Finance Manager)
Frank is one of a kind. He brings creativity and energy that serves both individuals and groups. He dares to stand up and take the lead when a shift is needed. He does it from the heart whilst trusting himself. He is a leader and a servant with a warm heart, an inviting smile whilst damned well knowing what he stands for.
(A.VvT., MCC)
The workshop was very good. As feedback I can say:
– Very intensive
– Well structured & flexible
– Valuable impulse & direct feedback
– Very open atmosphere
(R.S., Head of Integrationmanagement)
It was a great workshop, and fun too. Improv is a great tool to add to our coaching tool box to strengthen our relationship with our clients. Furthermore, it teaches us to relax and to be fully present. I’d definitely attend another workshop in the future.

My way … so far
I was born in the summer of ’69 in the Odenwald, a rural area between Frankfurt and Heidelberg, where I grew up, graduated from high school in 1989 and completed two years of civilian service as a paramedic. After school a very intensive life experience, to which I owe valuable impulses, not only in terms of good collaboration and attentive communication.
Perhaps the most important impulse for my path came during my sports studies in Cologne, when I started this artistic and educational subject called “movement theatre”. Of course, I had no idea that my profession would later have something to do with theatre when I naively immersed myself in this vivid and richly visual combination of acting, music, and dance. During this time, I took part as an actor in numerous plays by my fellow students and ended up directing my own play. Whereby movement theatre always means co-creation: it is pure ensemble work when the jointly created scenes and choreographies emerge from improvisation. I learned that good improvisation is a game with degrees of freedom. And how much creativity is unleashed by a skilfully set frame in which the players’ imagination can unfold.
While still studying, we founded our theatre ensemble “GangArt Bewegungstheater”. As we established ourselves more and more as a provider of customised business theatre, we renamed it GANGART Theater*Event*Training, because we saw ourselves as an artistic service partner that created tailor-made performances for corporate events as well as experience-oriented training programmes for personnel development.
In addition to GANGART, I also worked freelance in the ‘theatre in education’ area as a drama teacher in projects with pupils from various types of schools and at the Theatre Pedagogical Centre Cologne (TPZ Köln) in this vocational training programme. For more than 10 years I was lecturer for the practical application of theatre methods in group work.
In my 16 years with GANGART, I gained a wealth of experience on and behind the stage, in larger and smaller performances, and in working with people from different companies in a wide range of industries. This is how I began to develop my expertise in “Presence & Impact” and “applied theatre (methods) in business” because I learned to use the potential of playful and experience-oriented methods as an effective stimulus for good learning processes and to apply them in training and coaching sessions with employees and executives.
The private life always provides important learning impulses too: the dialogue with my wife, an inspiring HR professional with heart and soul, helps me to understand the corporate world contexts. And my daughter is also a constant source of learning. When we lived together in the Netherlands for five years, I completed my coach training in Amsterdam in 2015. This time spent in an international environment was another intense inspiration. In my coach training, I learned not only valuable coaching skills but also how to value the knowledge and skills of my previous theater profession. Tying everything together and not leaving it behind was a realisation that led to my current approach and to IMPROVO COACHING. Co-Active gave me effective tools which, together with my theatre experience, make up my current mix of methods. This valuable wealth of experience also includes inspiration from great people with whom I am privileged to collaborate in very different constellations.
Since we are back in Düsseldorf in 2017, I have been focussing on my freelance work as a coach, trainer, and facilitator with IMPROVO COACHING Frank Jäger.
My network & collaborations
I am a collaborator! In addition to my own clients, I enjoy working with selected partners – many of whom I have worked with for over 20 years now. This has led to a wonderful network of colleagues, partners and experts, consultancies, coaching providers and other organisations, which I am very happy to cooperate with.
